About The Festival

Wood Dust — The Australian International Timber and Woodworking Festival is an authentically new, independently organised woodworking event being held in the Australian woodworking heartland of Queanbeyan and Bungendore, Southern NSW.

For five days Queanbeyan and Bungendore will be the center of the woodworking world as local and international celebrities descend for a series of ‘Yarns’, woodworking masterclasses, and a world class fine furniture exhibition all topped off with a timber and tool marketplace that you won’t want to miss.

The Wood Dust festival will take place across a number of venues. In Queanbeyan from 17th–19th of October, daily masterclasses will run at the Dunstone Design Workshops featuring North American and Australian woodworking masters including Michael Fortune, Andy Buck, Vic Tesolin, Ross Annels, and Bern Chandley.

The Timber and Tool Marketplace will run over the weekend of the 20th and 21st of October at the Bungendore Showgrounds and will be an educational and entertaining celebration of the craft. There will be back-to-back free demonstrations at the ‘Village’, a ‘Meet the Makers’ stand where you can chat face to face with woodworking legends, Luthiers Lane with live music, wooden boats, axe throwing courtesy of Maniax, good food, coffee and craft beer. And of course – all the best woodworking tools available.

Message from the Organisers

We are a couple of guys who just love woodworking and who have both spent most of our lives in and out of workshops all over the world.

For years we have been banging on to one another about what a celebration of woodworking should really be about. In the end, we decided to create a woodworking event that brings together all our experiences into one comprehensive event. We just want to create a woodworking event that we want to go to, and hope that you will want to go as well.

So, we have bitten the bullet, mortgaged our houses and rang all our friends from Tasmania to upstate New York in order to bring you Wood Dust — The Australian International Timber and Woodworking Festival.

Wood Dust is a festival where the first timer can hold a real hand plane, take a class and buy some quality tools. The enthusiast can meet their woodworking hero, have a yarn and hone their skills. And the professional can share their stories over a craft beer, kicking back while a hand-made guitar is played in the background. Woodworking is a universal craft that all can enjoy through the creativity, pleasure and friendships that it provides.

Queanbeyan and Bungendore are woodworking heartland nestled within beautiful, rolling Australian countryside. Come to Wood Dust and immerse yourself in all things wood.
