Conversations in Design
Led by a panel of leading designer makers, Conversations in Design will be a fascinating design experience — only at the Weekend at Wood Dust Makers Conference
Take part as a contributor or join the audience and sit back and observe
About the Event
For many designer makers, the majority of discussion and learning revolves around the ‘making’ side only, there is rarely time or consideration given to discussions of design.
Conversations in Design aims to give you the opportunity to receive direct feedback on your design work, but also to generally start a discussion amongst makers about the importance of design, as well as to suggest tools and methods for makers to improve and refine their design process.
This event features a panel of three prominent Australian designers and makers – Laura McCusker, Adam Markowitz and Nick Rennie who will lead this design conversation.

The Format
Contributors are invited to submit a piece, either via images or a physical object for our panel to review. This not a high-pressure stressful situation! It will be an informal affair, no stages, no spotlights – just the pieces arrayed on the floor and an informal walk around with all those taking part. General attendees of Wood Dust will be welcome to join in or observe.
There will be 9 projects discussed on the day, each given a 20 minute slot – 5 minutes for the designer to present the ideas behind their work, followed by 15 minutes for feedback and discussion of the piece from the panel and any audience members present.
